Murder hunt after woman found outside house in Yorkshire market town

A MURDER investigation was under way today after a woman was found dead outside a house in a quiet market town in East Yorkshire.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident in Driffield, and is being held in police custody for questioning, a spokeswoman for Humberside Police said.

The body of the woman, who has not yet been named but was thought to be 30, was discovered outside a property in Clematis Close just before 6pm yesterday.

Officers were called to the house following reports of an alleged assault and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.40pm.

The force spokeswoman said: "Humberside Police are treating this as a murder inquiry and the man is currently being questioned in relation to this.

"Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

The close, in a quiet part of the town, is made up of semi-detached homes.

A police cordon surrounded the house this morning and a white forensic tent was in place on the property's front driveway as officers carried out their investigation.
