Murder inquiry after police find body in flat

a murder investigation was launched by West Yorkshire Police last night after the body of a man was found in Huddersfield.

The body was found when officers went to a flat on Ashenhurst Rise, Newsome, at around 1pm. A 48-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Chief Ins Adrian Taylor said: “Our enquiries are at a very early stage and we are currently working to ascertain the full circumstances behind this incident.

“The identity of the deceased is not yet clear, although I can confirm he is an adult male who we believe to be the occupant of the flat.

“I can say, however, that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.

“Forensic teams are at the address and an examination of the scene is underway.

“Local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are also providing reassurance patrols in the area, speaking to residents about any concerns they may have.”
