Murder investigation launched after woman’s death in Withernsea

Humberside Police were called to Heather Avenue in the town after the ambulance service advised they were attending a report of an injured woman shortly before 2am today.

A 42-year-old woman was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 51-year-old man has been arrested and is in police custody where he is being interviewed by detectives.

Crime scene investigators are carrying out a forensic examination at the address and house to house enquiries are being carried out.

A post mortem examination will take place later to try and establish the cause of death of the woman and specially trained officers are supporting members of her family .
