National parks hunt for new members

NORTH Yorkshire’s national parks have announced they are looking for people to join an influential group of members who play a major role in shaping the direction of the authorities.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) and North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA) are both seeking two new people each to join their group of members. The National Park Authority members are responsible for major decisions on the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales strategic management, including wildlife, archaeology, education, planning, recreation and communications.

The appointments will be made by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Caroline Spelman, and the closing deadline for applications is February 13. Candidates will be expected to have a good awareness of the issues affecting national parks generally and a clear understanding and knowledge of the cultural heritage of the park.
