Neighbourhood deal for model village

A NEW neighbourhood agreement will come into effect tomorrow with the aim of improving the Model Village at Maltby in Rotherham.

The scheme will be launched by residents at the Ascension Centre at 6pm and is a joint agreement, making them aware of what services they can expect but also where their own responsibilities rest.

A spokesman for Rotherham Council said: "Local service providers have worked very closely with community members to provide one shared document and a pledge to the area.

"This has been produced in the form of a calendar and all residents of the model village will receive one."

All residents, along with representatives from the organisations involved in formulating the new agreement, have been invited to attend tomorrow's event.

The model village at Maltby was begun in about 1911 to accommodate the men required to work the new Maltby Main Colliery.
