Neighbourhood police to put brake on yobs

NUISANCE motorcycles and anti-social behaviour are top of the priorities list for a new sergeant who has taken over the running of four Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in North East Derbyshire.

Sgt Greg Hunt, who has been a police officer for more than 13 years, is now in charge of the teams which cover Dronfield, Unstone, Eckington and Killamarsh.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “He first started his career in Derby, where he worked for four years, spending time as a response and a Safer Neighbourhood officer, and with the proactive unit in Chaddesden.

“Greg also has experience as a traffic cop and on the force’s roads crime unit.

“Before moving to the current role he spent time leading the response teams in the Amber Valley, and as a detective sergeant in Clay Cross.”

Sgt Hunt said: “My teams will continue to keep anti-social behaviour and crime low, and in particular our current priorities are to reduce anti-social behaviour in Killamarsh, to target nuisance motorcycles in Eckington and tackle any issues with travelling criminality that our area may face.”

Outside of work, he enjoys cycling and running, and used to play rugby for Creswell Crusaders.

Sgt Hunt added: “We’re here to listen to local residents about any concerns or ways in which we could improve our service, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
