POLICE in Bradford hope a Neighbourhood Watch roadshow will encourage more people to join the scheme.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the crime prevention scheme with more than 1,800 Bradford members now involved.

Insp Darren Minton, of the Little Horton and Great Horton neighbourhood policing team, said: “The watch concept has been increasingly successful over the years in preventing crime, opportunities for crime and also anti-social behaviour. It allows us to work closely with communities and provide members with the latest information and advice.

“Through these channels, we have seen communities effectively tackle issues which have contributed to improving their quality of life.” There are now 32,000 households covered by Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Bradford.

The Bradford district Neighbourhood Watch roadshow will be in the car park on Great Horton Road from 10am to 3.30pm tomorrow.
