Neighbours interviewed as murder hunt police renew plea for sightings

POLICE investigating the murder of Julie Ann Gallagher, whose body was found in her home in Rotherham last week, interviewed her neighbours yesterday and have renewed their appeal for information.

Officers interviewed people living close to the murder scene in Foljambe Road, Eastwood, in an attempt to find witnesses to assist with their investigation.

They also said that would like to hear from two women who were filmed on CCTV talking to Mrs Gallagher outside the Cranworth pub on Wednesday, March 24. South Yorkshire Police said: "They are potential witnesses and maybe able to help. Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw Julie between Wednesday and Saturday who may be able to assist with the investigation.

"Anyone who can assist is urged to call police on 01709 832690. Police are also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Julie or any visitors to her house after 1.15am on Thursday, March 24." Mrs Gallagher was last seen alive walking home from The Cranworth, in Fitzwilliam Road, last Thursday at 1.15am. Her body was found by police at 12.30pm on Saturday. She died from a single stab wound to her chest.

A 55-year-old man from Eastwood, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been bailed for further inquiries.
