New arrest in Sheffield murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Sheffield have arrested a further suspect.

A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon (Thursday) on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection to the death of Aseel Al-Essaie in Walkley last month.

The man was questioned by detectives in police custody and has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Mr Al-Essaie was shot at around 1.35pm on Saturday, February 18 in Daniel Hill, Walkley. He was taken to hospital, where he died.

A total of nine people - five men, two women and two teenage boys - have so far been arrested in connection with Mr Al-Essaie’s death and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers are continuing to urge anyone with information regarding Mr Al-Essaie’s death to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 571 of February 18, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
