Located at 47 Oxford Street on a site formerly occupied by Jakes cafe, the Walrus & Carpenter follows recent independent bar arrivals in Harrogate which have transformed the town's indie scene, bars such as North Bar, Ten Devonshire Place, Major Tom's Social and The Harrogate Tap.

Unlike the highly-rated indie Leed-based chain Friends of Ham, however, the Walrus & Carpenter, a self-professed "Surf and Turf Kitchen, Craft Beer, Wine and Gin Bar, Bottleshop and Event Space" will also specialise in fish when it comes to food.
