New Bishop of Whitby consecrated

The new Bishop of Whitby officially took on his role yesterday when he was consecrated in York Minster by the Archbishop of York.

The Right Rev Martin Clive Warner, who was previously Canon Treasurer of St Paul’s Cathedral, has taken over from the Right Rev Robert Ladds, who retired last year. The Archbishop, Dr John Sentamu, carried out the consecration of the Right Rev Warner, 51, who was ordained in 1984.

The new bishop’s interests include architecture, medieval, renaissance, and contemporary art, and the cinema.

He also enjoys travel and has led pilgrimages in Europe and the Holy Land.
