New bridge forTrust estate

A new £100,000 bridge was yesterday lifted into place by a crane at one of Yorkshire's stately homes.

The 70ft bridge, which has taken a year to design and build, spans the River Rye at Nunnington Hall in North Yorkshire and provides a link from the 17th century property to the car parks. It replaces a smaller wooden footbridge that had spanned the river since the early 1980s at the National Trust property near Helmsley.
