Harridge Developments is proposing to build a 126-bed Ibis Budget hotel in Sheffield.

The proposed site forms part of the larger development known as Velocity Tower, which consists of a completed 22 storey apartment building.

The ground floor would comprise a reception space as well as a restaurant and dining area with a servery.

Whittam Cox Architects designed the hotel on behalf of Harridge Developments,

Nick Fenton, associate director at Whittam Cox Architects, said: “We’re delighted to be completing this prominent scheme in the heart of the city.

“The existing partially completed first floor podium which formed the base for the second phase of the original tower development is currently being used as a car park.

“Our proposals seek to enable the completion of the original scheme’s aspiration, creating a high quality leisure focussed extension”.

Andrew Davison at Harridge Developments, added, “The development will finish and complement this Sheffield landmark providing much needed hotel room space to this area of the city.”

Planning has now been validated and councillors will make a decision on the application later in the year.
