The Dean of Ripon, Keith Jukes, will formally dedicate the new cathedral glass doors, donated by well-known Yorkshire businessman Paul Sykes, next week.
Ancient wooden doors at Ripon Cathedral have been restored and inside glass doors installed, offering a view into the cathedral for tourists and for worshippers alike.
Since their installation in time for Easter 2012, over 100,000 visitors have been welcomed to the cathedral.
On Thursday the doors, which will feature Sally Scott’s modern glass engraving depicting founding Saint Wilfrid’s missionary journeys, will be formally dedicated.
The Dean of Ripon said: “The doors make the church open in a way that has not been offered for centuries.” He added: “We will continue to welcome all to this cathedral and look forward to sharing its heritage and ministry with the many more thousands that will now be attracted here.”
