New Chatsworth chief swaps supermarket for stately home

running a country estate is very different from some of Ted Cadogan’s previous jobs, but yesterday he said he was looking forward to the challenge of building on the successes of one of the region’s most popular attractions.

The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire announced that Mr Cadogan would take over as the Chatsworth Estate’s chief operating officer earlier this month, and yesterday he was getting to grips with the size of the task.

A former executive with Asda and Procter and Gamble, Mr Cadogan said he planned to expand the Chatsworth brand, taking overall control of all parts of the operation including the house, garden, park and farmyard and the retail, catering and events businesses.

He said: “I am looking forward to working with the team at Chatsworth and with the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, to develop and preserve Chatsworth for the enjoyment of its visitors for many years to come,”

Chatsworth chief executive Richard Reynolds welcomed Mr Cadogan’s appointment and added: “This is an important and exciting new role at Chatsworth.

“Ted will be bringing our operational teams together with a single aim - which is to ever improve the experience of our visitors.”
