New faces for community healthcare

TWO new members have joined the board of Bradford and Airedale Community Health Services (BACHS).

Mary Litchfield, of Sutton near Keighley, and Trevor Higgins have been appointed as lay members of BACHS, the local NHS organisation which provides community health services,

Their role will be to support the BACHS board and chair, Chris Turner, in ensuring effective management of the organisation.

Ms Litchfield has had a long career in retailing, working at senior management and board level, and Mr Higgins is a partnership director for BT. Among many business roles, he is chairman of the Bradford Employment and Skills Board, a director of Bradford Breakthrough and chair of the West Yorkshire Flexible Working Group.

Mr Higgins, of Bingley, said: "I'm a passionate Bradfordian – born, raised and educated in the city and, as a regular user, I have a long standing interest in the health services delivered in Bradford and Airedale. From first hand experiences I know the excellent work that BACHS staff are already doing."BACHS chair Chris Turner said that the new board members "offer considerable skills and experience".
