New fund to back Dales businesses

COMMUNITY and business groups in Craven are being invited to apply for money to support environmental and job creation projects.

Craven Council has established a new pot of money called the Localism Reserve to enable local organisations, community groups and business groups/associations to apply for funding.

The money has come from the New Homes Bonus which is a central government incentive scheme for every new home or empty property brought back into use.

Just under £96,000 has been made available for the fund in Craven.

Two kinds of projects will be supported: ones that support businesses to grow and those that improve the appearance of neighbourhoods and public open spaces.

Councillor Chris Knowles-Fitton, leader of the council, said: “The council believes that local organisations have the right knowledge, expertise and ideas to help local businesses unlock future growth and would urge them to take advantage of this new funding pot.”
