New gallery in 500-year-old home is a work of creation

ARTWORK from home and abroad features in a new art gallery being opened in Beverley.

Curator Nigel Walker has travelled the globe seeking out work by painters, print makers, photographers, ceramicists, wood turners, jewellers and sculptures, for Creation Fine Arts, at 7 North Bar Within, which throws open its doors on Monday.

The gallery’s opening show of work by sixteen Bulgarian printmakers is a first for the UK, although all have international reputations.

Mr Walker said: “This project has been two years in the making and I chose the location because the space lends itself so well as an art gallery. There are four large areas within the gallery, each displaying a different theme.

“It is my intention to offer a place for visitors to relax and enjoy their surroundings but also to buy unique gifts and collector’s items all in one place.

“I am looking forward to showing visitors around the building, parts of which date back 500 years– it is a wonderful place which until now has remained a hidden gem.”

The gallery will be open Wednesday to Friday from 10.30am to 6pm, Saturday 9.30am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
