New homes plan for Leeds suburb

Residents in the Wharfe Valley are being urged to have their say on plans to build thousands of new homes in the area.

Leeds City Council has launched a public consultation on its Site Allocations Development Plan which earmarks potential sites for houses over the next 15 years.

Members of Aireborough Neighbourhood Forum are encouraging residents in the area to have their say about development on their doorsteps.

They are calling for locals to give their opinions about where 2,000 new homes should be sited.

A spokeswoman from the Forum said: “Over the past year, Leeds planners have been assessing land in Aireborough for the new housing target of 2,300 to be built between April 2012 and 2028.

“They also have reports from the last few years on employment, retail and green space provision.

“From September 2012 Leeds consulted with local councillors on these site allocations, now, they have released the results of their assessment for a public consultation.”

The consultation runs until July 29.
