WORK has begun on a £1m expansion of gym facilities at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Expected to open in October, the gym will feature new machines including bikes, rowers, treadmills and cross trainers, as well as Power Plates.
Lorenzo Clark, director of operations for Sheffield International Venues, which runs the venue, said: “Work is now well underway ahead of the expected autumn opening.
“The gym at EIS Sheffield has always been really popular and the new development is about building on this success.
“The community complex will cater for current and new members, as well as those using Don Valley Stadium, and will set the standard for gyms in Sheffield.”
Mr Clark added: “The wellbeing of the surrounding community is key to SIV’s philosophy for the expansion and the development of an inspirational facility with tailored, value-for-money fitness packages to encourage healthy lifestyles.”
