New Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire
Dame Ingrid Roscoe, who has held the post for 14 years and will step down on September 1, will be succeeded by Ed Anderson, currently chairman of the Airport Operators’ Association and a former High Sheriff of West Yorkshire.
He is also a board member of Opera North, a council member of Leeds University, a trustee of the Leeds Piano Competition, and pro chancellor at Leeds Trinity University.

Hide AdThe ancient office of Lord Lieutenant, whose roots can be traced to Tudor times, is bestowed by the Queen, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The holder’s role involves escorting Royal visitors to the county, representing the Queen at events and presenting honours on behalf of the Crown.
Dame Ingrid, a sculpture historian who will now concentrate on an Open University degree in ancient civilisations, said: “I could have done one more year – you retire at 75. But I reckon, time to think about other things.”
