New police station approved for town

Plans for a multi-million-pound new police station at Beckwith Knowle in Harrogate have been approved by councillors.

The three-storey building, planned to replace the town’s existing station on North Park Road, will accommodate 200 police officers and staff. It will have 16 cells.

North Yorkshire Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell said Harrogate’s current facilities had become “old and outdated”.
