New sex abuse allegations on Stuart Hall

Disgraced veteran broadcaster Stuart Hall is facing more police questioning over new allegations of sexual offences.

Lancashire Police have received “further allegations” about Hall, who was jailed for 15 months in June after admitting 14 counts of indecent assault against girls as young as nine. It is understood the fresh allegations are also of a sexual nature.

A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we have received further allegations and we are currently working with the Crown Prosecution Service to determine the most appropriate course of action.”

Hall, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, admitted indecently assaulting girls aged between nine and 17 over a period of almost 20 years after initially denying the allegations. A rape charge – which Hall denied – was left on file.

The sentence of the former It’s A Knockout presenter has been doubled at the Court of Appeal after the initial jail term was criticised as “unduly lenient”.

When Hall’s sentence was increased to 30 months, judges criticised his public denials of his victims’ claims when he knew he was guilty.
