New teaching facility for Huddersfield University

HUDDERSFIELD university has submitted plans for a landmark teaching facility on the Shorehead roundabout corner of its campus.

The £27.5 million building will provide a new home for the School of Law and the School of Music, Humanities and Media.

It will link into the Student Central Building which was completed in January 2014 at a cost of £22.5 million. The architects is AHR, a Huddersfield firm.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Bob Cryan said: “We are committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible environment for the growing number of students who choose to study here and contribute so positively to the local economy.”

The new six storey building will provide 7,500 square metres of space. It will provide large tiered lecture theatres when it is completed in September 2016.
