Night in with Danyl hits the right notes for lecturer and his family

The hit TV show X Factor came to a front room in Dewsbury yesterday when 2009 finalist Danyl Johnson treated a family to a private performance.

University lecturer David Lane, 40, his wife Elaine and sons Timothy, six, and Jonathan, 10, were treated to the visit after Mr Lane won a competition for an ultimate night in. They heard a range of hits from the show and some covers of other songs.

The singer said the performance was "extra special" to him as it was just him and a small audience. He said performing in front of a handful of people was in some ways more nerve-racking than entertaining a larger audience. PICTURE: Steve Riding
