Kerrie Webb caused a stir at the party’s autumn conference after fellow supporters spotted her inky tribute to the eurosceptic.

Ukip aides arranged a meeting between Mr Farage and his fan and the Ukip leader invited her up to his room on the fourth floor at Doncaster racecourse so they could “get away from all the press”.

Mr Farage then autographed the image of his face before the pair hugged and laughed as activists cheered.

Ms Webb, 38, from Chesterfield, said the tattoo had taken three hours to complete but insisted it had “not really” hurt.

Asked why she had chosen to have a tattoo of Mr Farage’s face, she told the Press Association: “I feel very passionately about what he stands for and how he is going to change Britain, especially things like the NHS and making young people feel like they have got a chance to have a future again.”

Ms Webb said she felt a “bit embarrassed” about the prospect of meeting Mr Farage.

“But very pleased, of course, because he’s my hero,” she added.
