Nose-biting thug jailed for four years

A MAN who bit off part his neighbour's nose in a fit of rage has been jailed for four years.

Anthony Greig, 31, was branded a danger to the public by a judge yesterday after a court heard how he bit through the end of Robert Ammundsen's nose leaving him scarred for life.

Prosecutor Rupert Doswell said after Mr Ammundsen was taken off to hospital by another neighbour, Greig sent a text message to him asking: "How's the hooter? That's just the start of it. Stay the f*** away from me."

Mr Doswell told Bradford Crown Court how Greig and his girlfriend had moved in with Mr Ammundsen's next-door neighbour in Goodenber Road, Bentham, North Yorkshire and in the days leading up to the attack Greig had become abusive.

Judge Durham Hall said Greig had deliberately bitten the victim's nose intending to cause a serious and permanent wound which would carry physical and psychological repercussions.

"You are or were accustomed to drinking and the calculation is that you suffer intense anger at any slight or challenge," he told Greig.

The Judge said Greig would be subjected to an extended licence period of eight years as a way of protecting the public.
