Not quite an ego trip, more a fashion malfunction

IT may have caused her to trip over on her way to collecting her Oscar but Jennifer Lawrence’s Christian Dior haute couture gown won her plaudits as Hollywood’s A-list hit the red carpet.

The 22-year-old’s floor-length dress meant she was among the stars being praised for both their acting and sense of style on Oscars night.

Fellow Oscar winner Anne Hathaway’s blush pink tone Prada dress was also hailed as a fashion hit at the Academy Awards.

Helen Hunt’s outfit made more than just a fashion statement as she attempted to make the red carpet a little more green.

She arrived wearing a dress from the H&M’s Conscious Collection which looks to use more eco friendly materials such as organic cotton, tencel, and recycled polyester. Although the Hollywood star, nominated for best supporting actress for her role in the Sessions, may have been wearing a high street brand she combined this with Hollywood glamour as she wore diamonds reportedly worth around $700,000.

Sally Field appeared in a southern belle style red ruffled chiffon gown by Italian Valentino Garavani while Amy Adams, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in The Master, arrived in a custom made Oscar de la Renta dove grey gown with a full ruffled princess skirt.

Other stars being praised at the biggest event in the red carpet calendar included Jessica Chastain who wore an Armani Prive dress and Eddie Redmayne who combined an Alexander McQueen tuxedo with a pair of velvet slippers.
