Nothing scary about these scarecrows

The Wolds village of Wetwang yesterday began welcoming thousands of visitors for its eighth annual Scarecrow Week.

In 2009, the festival raised 6,000 of much-needed funds for community events at the village hall as well as securing the ongoing upkeep of the venue for another year.

This week more than 100 cleverly-crafted scarecrows can be seen in gardens, open spaces, hidden corners and even on rooftops. Visitors can enjoy delicious home-baking at the village hall each day this week from 11am to 4pm, and a Scarecrow Craft Fair in the same building from 10am to 4pm, featuring delicious produce and gifts.
