Now YouTubers get their own waxworks: Proof that anyone can be a celebrity these days?

REALITY TV shows like Celebrity Big Brother have already lowered the bar on what passes these days for fame.
Fans pose for pictures with waxwork figures of vloggers Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes (also known as Zoella and PointlessBlog) sitting in an exact replica of the spare bedroom they often vlog from, in a new YouTube-themed exhibit at Madame Tussauds in London.Fans pose for pictures with waxwork figures of vloggers Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes (also known as Zoella and PointlessBlog) sitting in an exact replica of the spare bedroom they often vlog from, in a new YouTube-themed exhibit at Madame Tussauds in London.

But Madame Tussauds, the London wax museum, has been accused of plumbing new depths by immortalising two “vloggers” who broadcast via YouTube from their spare bedroom.

The models of Zoe Sugg, known to fans as Zoella, and boyfriend Alfie Deyes from “Pointless Blog” (jointly known as Zalfie) are featured in a scene of the makeshift studio in their Brighton home, lounging on a bed uploading to their video channels.

The waxwork will sit alongside models of Hollywood and music stars, and members of the royal family.

The pair have amassed nearly 12 million YouTube subscribers between them.

Ben Sweet, general manager of Tussauds, said: “We are delighted to be working with Alfie and Zoe. It’s a first for the attraction and reflects just how huge these YouTube stars are.”

But some twitter followers were less impressed.

HowellsIrwin tweeted: “It’s not like Zoe and Alfie earned this themselves. It’s pretty much only because they have incredible management.”

Dazedhowell added: “Zoe and Alfie are getting wax figures? Don’t get me wrong, I love them both but there are more influential people that should get them.”

Even Zoe herself revealed she was doubtful about the honour. The 25-year-old said in her blog: “I felt very like, ‘I don’t deserve to be made into a wax figure and put in Madame Tussauds. [But] I was also thinking this is one of the coolest things ever. Imagine in 10 years time... I can tell my kids, ‘They once made a wax figure of me...’ You have to think beyond the now... YouTubers are taking over.”
