Nuisance calls from rapper tie up police

A rapper with a Jamaican accent is being hunted by police after plaguing a force with thousands of nuisance calls.

The man dials 999 but when the emergency call is answered he begins to rap, sing, chant, preach and play loud music to the call handlers.

Audio clips of some of his calls were released by Greater Manchester Police yesterday in the hope that someone will recognise the voice.

The calls have been going on since January 2009, and in the last three months alone there have been 700.

Call handlers dealing with him are tied up for several minutes, stopping them from responding to genuine emergencies, and it is costing the force up to 1,000 a month purely to handle his calls.
