Office take-up provides a hint of hope

Have your say

What are the prospects for the property sector in Yorkshire and Humber?

Despite the uncertainty of the economic climate the mood of the property market is more optimistic with 2011 Leeds central office take-up likely to be close to 450,000 sq ft reflecting significantly more occupier activity than 2010.

Q3 take-up is getting close to the 10-year average of 500,000 sq ft per annum. This is underpinned by the strong investment deals at White Rose Office Park and Lateral.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with many office and development schemes, Whitehall Riverside Leeds, Bridgewater Place Leeds, 2 St Paul’s Place, Sheffield, Granary Wharf Leeds.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

Leeds Market. I love all markets and Leeds is a spectacular example of Victorian architecture.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?

Improve funding opportunities in order to get some more development.

Whom do you most admire in the property industry?

George Best, ex-property director at Evans of Leeds, who passed away 10 years ago. He was a significant part in my formative years.
