Officers renew appeal for death crash witness

POLICE are still attempting to trace a woman who witnessed a crash on the A1 in north Nottinghamshire, in which a cyclist from Mirfield in West Yorkshire died.

Andrew Ridsdale, 43, was participating in a time trial event on his bike when he was hit by a lorry on the southbound carriageway, a mile south of Blyth services.

The 42-year-old driver of the HGV was arrested over death by dangerous driving and was later bailed.

Police issued a further appeal for witnesses yesterday and said they believe a woman, possibly elderly, who was driven home by someone in a high-visibility jacket, may have “vital information.”

Mr Ridsdale died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 8.55am on Sunday March 18.
