Officers renew unsolved murder appeal

THREE years after the unsolved murder of a young father, detectives have asked those with information to search their consciences and come forward.

Adam Chadwick, 20, who had a young daughter, Ruby, was visiting his sister at Clifton Mount, Harehills, Leeds when three black men came to the door.

During a scuffle he was shot in the head and died two days later. Mr Chadwick, a carpet fitter, may have been mistaken for another man.

Today is the third anniversary of the shooting.

Yesterday, Detective Superintendent Dick Nuttall, who is leading the investigation, said: “Adam’s family were left devastated by his death and have to live with their loss through each passing day.

“From the beginning of this enquiry we have always believed the key to solving Adam’s murder lies within the communities of Leeds.

“I still firmly believe that’s the case and that there are people within the city holding the vital piece of information that will unlock this case and bring Adam’s family some sense of justice and closure.”

Police want information about a woman who called at Mr Chadwick’s sister’s house prior to the shooting asking for someone called “Michelle”.

She is described as white, in her late 20s, around 5ft 5in with dark brown hair, olive skin and dark eyes. She was wearing a baggy black fleece or cardigan over a round neck black top.

Detectives also want to hear from anyone with information about a blue Ford Focus C-Max vehicle that is thought to have been used by those involved in Mr Chadwick’s murder.

The vehicle was stolen from the Little London area of Leeds on June 11, 2008 and recovered from the junction of Chapeltown Road and Reginald Street in Leeds the day after Mr Chadwick was shot.

The car was also caught on CCTV at 11.30pm on June 20, four days before the shooting, pulling onto the forecourt of the BP Garage in Roundhay Road.

Despite extensive police enquiries and appeals, detectives have been unable to trace the occupants of the vehicle carrying the registration number of YH54 SBV.
