Olympic swimmer helps charity make waves in battle against brain disease
The world champion, of Mansfield, is an ambassador for the Malton-based Encephalitis Society, which is the only charity of its kind in the world providing direct support and information to people affected by the disease which is an inflammation of the brain, usually caused by infection, and affects people of all ages.
Miss Adlington, whose sister suffered from the disease, said: “I know from personal experience how this illness affects both people affected and their families so the work of the Encephalitis Society is so valuable.”
