What was your first job?

A window cleaner’s assistant when I was 13.

If you were in your present position, what would you be doing?

It would have to be a professional chef – I love food and started cooking from a really early age.

What is the worst mistake you’ve ever made?

I often find indecision leads to mistakes.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

Watching my son’s football team win, followed by a good lunch with friends and family.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

My grandfather, he died very young and I never got chance to talk to him about his experiences as a rear gunner in the Lancaster Bomber during the Second World War.

What was your best subject at school?

Art and design.

What are you hobbies?

Tennis, cooking, and I have recently taken up cycling.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Keep on working.

What is your top time saving tip?

Delegate and trust your staff - the experience they gain will benefit your business.

What is your favourite time of day?

Very early morning, anyone who travels on the M62 everyday will know why.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My Newcastle United shirt signed by Sir Bobby Robson.

What’s the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

We are blessed with great towns and cities with warm funny people and fantastic countryside.

What would your epitaph be?

Thank god he has stopped talking.
