One-legged man who saw red at paintball jailed

In February 2009, security chiefs admitted they had blundered after fitting an electronic tag to Ravenhill’s false leg when he was convicted of possessing cannabis.

The device was fitted after a judge put him on probation and ordered him to obey a curfew.

He said he was amazed when a woman from Group 4 Securicor – which fits the tags for the Department of Justice – failed to notice he had an artificial limb.

She came to his home to fit the tag but, when she left, Ravenhill was free to prop the tagged leg in the corner of a room and use a spare to go out whenever and wherever he liked.

G4S launched an investigation following the error, and said staff would be “reminded of the procedures they need to follow when fitting electronic tags”.
