Online views sought on police service

POLICE chiefs have appealed to people in Derbyshire to make their voices heard as part of a new online consultation which aims to improve the service delivered by officers.

The Have Your Say questionnaire takes just a few minutes to complete and senior officers said it was a "simple and instant way for people to give honest views to the police".

The questionnaire can be accessed by going to the Derbyshire Police Authority website and clicking on the Have Your Say 2010 banner on the home page.

The authority said as well as the online consultation, the Have Your Say programme surveys local opinion through postal questionnaires to gather the views of as many people as possible.

Coun Philip Hickson, chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority, said: "Being in touch with local views on issues such as anti-social behaviour and street crime through to serious organised crime and terrorism is vital in providing a good policing service to the public.

"This online consultation, which is being used for the first time means we can reach out to more people than ever before, listen to more diverse views and in time provide even more relevant local policing."
