PEOPLE already living here in the Broad Acres don't need reminding that there is no place on earth like Yorkshire. It's why they frequently describe this proud, and idyllic, region as God's own county.

Sean Maguire certainly knows this. Having embarked upon a holiday walk along the Pennine Way, the Londoner fell in love with the county's rugged landscape, pitched his tent at the Tan Hill Inn, Britain's highest pub perched in a remote corner of Swaledale and started work as a bartender.

Evidently, the journey back to London was too much for the 24-year-old to contemplate. Many who have reason to travel south will share this sentiment; the capital's claustrophobia could not be in greater

contrast to the wide open spaces enjoyed here.

They are there to be enjoyed, as Mr Maguire has demonstrated. And, with so many families having to scale back their holiday plans, they, in fact, have no need to venture further afield when they have such stunning scenery on their doorstep.
