Cut beer duty in Budget to save our pubs – The Yorkshire Post says

A GLASS should be raised to the Campaign for Real Ale’s call for a cut in the duty on draught beer, and not just by those who enjoy a pint of best bitter.

This would be a measure that would boost local communities as well as pubs, for as CAMRA points out, there are many traditional locals fighting for survival, and their loss  is very much to be  regretted.

Pubs are at the heart of communities, as hubs and meeting places, where friendships are formed and people get to know each other.

When they are forced to shut, as many have been in recent years, some of the focus and cohesion of the places they serve are lost too.

Cutting duty would not cost the Government a fortune, and there will be many MPs who rally to CAMRA’s call. It would be a small change that makes a big difference.
