Pubs are at the heart of communities, as hubs and meeting places, where friendships are formed and people get to know each other.

When they are forced to shut, as many have been in recent years, some of the focus and cohesion of the places they serve are lost too.

Cutting duty would not cost the Government a fortune, and there will be many MPs who rally to CAMRA’s call. It would be a small change that makes a big difference.
