Just not cricket

LIKE a failing batsman left swinging weakly at thin air, the Pakistani cricket party would be best served by packing up and going home. While much remains to be proved about what particular players have said and done, the latest series of allegations have fatally undermined the credibility of the remaining fixtures.

It is time for the squad to be put out of its misery. With police and the world cricket authorities examining claims of spot-fixing and match-fixing, and fans left so disillusioned – as shown by the surge of calls from people wanting to cancel tickets for this month's

one-day international at Headingley – there is nothing to be gained by fulfilling the remaining fixtures.
