Megxit and sadness as Duke and Duchess of Sussex begin new life in California – The Yorkshire Post says

They had an opportunity, on issues like mental health, disability and racial inequality, to become global ambassadors like no other. Now there’s an unedifying diplomatic kerfuffle about security.

But what is even more regrettable is that Harry and Meghan felt that they could not have fulfilled their roles from this country.

There are members of the Royal Household – and also hostile elements of the media – who now need to reflect on why the Duchess came to feel so unwelcome less than two years after a fairytale wedding at Windsor.

Their actions do not reflect well on modern Britain.

However we do wish the family every happiness – and hope the door is kept open for a possible return to this country at some stage in the future.

They will always be welcome here.
