Mother's pride

MOTHER'S Day will, this weekend, be a special time for families to come together. For Lisa Glossop, it will really be a day to remember – her first as a parent after she overcame countless obstacles over a remarkable 10 years to start a family with the birth of baby Gracie.

The same applies to Angela Filarowski, from Leeds. Tomorrow will be a day she feared that she would never see. Her young daughter Gabrysia has defied medical wisdom after being given just days to live because of a heart defect.

Now, thanks to a successful heart transplant last summer, her family are looking forward to Mother's Day after believing a year ago would be their first and last together.

With family life coming under so much pressure nowadays, tomorrow should be a day for millions to treasure. For some, however, that celebration will be just that little bit more special.
