Now Back British Farming every day – The Yorkshire Post says

THE Yorkshire Post is proud to endorse Back British Farming Day, an initiative spearheaded by the National Farmers Union to highlight the value of UK food producers and need for a ‘level playing field’ once Brexit and new trade deals are in place.

As Goole vegetable grower Guy Poskitt sets out so eloquently in today’s newspaper, a farmer’s role extends far beyond the production of food to nourish the nation – his industry is at the vanguard of efforts to maintain world-leading animal welfare standards as well as measures to conserve, and preserve, the environment.

Taken for granted by successive governments who have all been guilty of downplaying this sector, and the daily challenges faced by farmers just to eke out a living from the land, the regret is that such awareness events are still needed for the benefit of politicians and consumers when every day should be a Back British Farming Day. There’s still much to do until this is, indeed, the case.
