The Office at home needs broadband resilience – The Yorkshire Post says

SOME will be slightly surprised by broadcast regulator Ofcom’s assertion that UK adults spend just over a quarter of their waking lives online.

It seems a conservative estimate when set in the context of the experience of the millions of office-based workers who have been working from home – WFH for short as the acronym becomes common parlance – for the past three months as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown.

Yet, while the ability of firms and staff to adapt has staved off an even greater economic slump, it is a timely reminder, if one was needed, that the country’s broadband network – and its security – matters just as much as the rest of the country’s infrastructure.

And, as home working starts to become the ‘new normal’ for a great number of people, it is even more important that the Government – and broadband suppliers – have robust plans in place to respond to this increased demand, and dependability on the internet.
