Queen’s approach proved right over Harry and Meghan’s split from Royal Family: The Yorkshire Post says

One year on from the bombshell announcement by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that they intended to stop being senior royals, the decision continues to divide opinion but there is little doubt that the sad saga has enhanced the Queen’s reputation.

Harry and Meghan initially hoped to hold a dual role in which they would still support the Queen but earn their own money. However, the outcome of a summit held by the Queen at Sandringham was a decision that such an arrangement would be unworkable,

At the end of March, Harry and Meghan quit as working royals completely and stopped using their HRH styles in what was dubbed a ‘hard Megxit’.

The wisdom of that decision has been proved over the following months as the young couple have been allowed to pursue their new lives while keeping any controversy at a distance from the Royal Family.

Harry and Meghan have since settled into a new life in California, securing multi-million-pound deals with Netflix and Spotify and worked on their Archewell charity foundation.

Those media deals which support their new lifestyle would have put them at odds with their expected duties had they remained as working royals, proving the wisdom of the clean break.

Equally, controversy surrounding Harry’s comments on the US presidential election and accusations of staging a PR stunt when a fashion photographer pictured them in LA on Remembrance Sunday is now at a remove from the official activities of the Queen.

While the separation has undoubtedly been a painful one, it seems to be for the best.
