A winning recipe

AS an award-winning chef who grew up on a Yorkshire farm, Stephanie Moon understands the importance of locally-sourced food.

It is why she is uniquely placed to become an ambassador for Yorkshire produce, and the need for restaurants across the region to source more

food locally.

As well as providing unrivalled quality, it also offers a financial lifeline to those farmers who have seen their incomes steadily decline in recent years.

Already, supermarkets are recognising the value of locally-sourced produce – Booths is the latest chain to embrace this concept and is now marketing high-quality beef following a special link-up with the region's farmers.

Yet there are still restaurants and stores across this region that could, and should, be doing far more to source food locally and, in doing so, help to promote Yorkshire produce.

It's a proven and successful recipe, as Mrs Moon can testify, and it can be only hoped that her ambassadorial role bears fruit in the year ahead.
