The Yorkshire Post says: A fitting tribute to Sir Ken
The lasting legacy of Sir Ken Morrison, who took an egg and butter stall and built it up into a supermarket empire providing employment to tens of thousands of people, was already settled, but the unveiling of a new statue of him outside the firm's Bradford headquarters is a fitting tribute to his life's work.
Sir Ken’s passing in February 2017 at the age of 85 prompted fulsome tributes from those who had known him, with his undoubted business acumen matched with a passion for charitable causes.
These included establishing the Born in Bradford project in 2007 in an effort to research why babies born in his beloved home city were so prone to illness, as well as the Ken and Edna Morrison Charitable Trust, which provided grants to numerous good causes in West Yorkshire. The new statue will be a visible reminder for generations to come of Sir Ken’s priceless contribution both to Bradford and to Yorkshire.
