The Yorkshire Post says: New generation. Baby joy for Duke and Duchess

THE Royal family's joy after the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a third child was spontaneously shared by the country at large as news of the arrival spread before a town crier outside St Mary's Hospital, London, even had a chance to maintain tradition and make the formal announcement to wellwishers gathered on the street.

The patriotic fervour generated by the birth of the fifth in line to the throne on St George’s Day is also indicative of the strength of the enduring bond that exists between the Royal family and the country at large.

Coming so soon after it emerged that Prince Charles will be the next head of the Commonwealth, and two days after the Queen’s 92nd birthday, the happy announcement further re-enforces the status of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their young children, at the heart of the modern Royal family as responsibilities – and duties – begin to pass to the House of Windsor’s younger generation.
