The public cast more than 12,000 votes for 30 of the best campaigns from regional titles as part of the Making a Difference-themed Local Newspaper Week. The aim was to highlight the power of newspapers to campaign for positive change in the communities they serve.

Yorkshire Post reporters Ben Barnett and Lindsay Pantry co-ordinated the campaign which aims to persuade all local authorities in Yorkshire to write the issue of loneliness into their health strategies and to encourage more people to come forward as volunteers.
